Day 42 – Three Days till Bag and Tag

The team also pitched a community outreach idea at a open audition for the CBC show Dragon’s Den, on Friday at the Tannery. After our audition we got to tour Google and Desire2Learn.

With the the midnight deadline of Tuesday February 18th looming ever closer the team is kicking it into high gear. Final kinks are being worked out, and the drive team hopes to practice in St. Catherines this weekend.

Even though the team is busy with build, we have had some amazing adventures outside of the shop. This week we hosted an open house for our parents and sponsors, showing them our shop and robot.

The team also pitched a community outreach idea at a open audition for the CBC show Dragon’s Den, on Friday at the Tannery. After our audition we got to tour Google and Desire2Learn. This were both amazing tours, and the team loved  the experience.

Our Chairman’s Award essay was submitted Wednesday, and the team is fervently prepping for our presentations.

With only three days left of build the team is putting in long hours to make sure we’re ready for competition.

Day 36

With just more than one week left till Bag-and-Tag Day, we are hard at work refining and perfecting our robot. In addition to working on the robot, we have been working on our award’s submissions. With less than a week left until the Chairman’s due date, our awards team has been hard at work perfecting our essay.  They have been working hard throughout the build season, working on the submissions whenever there was time between working on the robot. Work on the robot is on schedule with us practicing in St. David’s cafeteria and our second robot coming to near completion. With a little over a week left, we are working hard to complete our robot and submit our award submissions.

Day 29-Lots of Progress

Approximately 5 weeks into build, and the team is working hard. Even though many students were out of the shop for five days because of their exams, a lot of progress was made this week. Our first robot is close to complete, driving for the first time late last night. The second robot assembly  has begun, catching up very quickly to it’s predecessor. Some difficulties were encountered this week, along with exams came a snow day, bad weather, and a lathe that hasn’t been operational. Happy to say, exams are done, snow has been cleared, and the lathe resurrected.  Chairman’s team in gearing up to start the long process of essay writing and video recording. With less than 2 weeks left, the team is working towards a perfect robot come bag and tag.

Day 21

Approximately three weeks into build and we are proud to say where running ahead of schedule.

Machined parts for our chassis, shooter, and other important aspects of our robot came in this week;  so the team has been hard at work assembling. The 3D printer has also been put to good use, printing various small parts for the robot and key-chains for team members. Our  prospects for winning the newly introduced 3D printing award this year are quite promising. Work on our Chairman’s submission is coming along nicely, with Executive Summary completed and other parts well on there way to completion. Our team website has also been recently revamped, creating a more professional looking website.
